Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) has introduced a series of free short courses aimed at boosting adult education in the local area.

The Skills Bootcamps cover various subjects, including digital marketing, finance, early years, hospitality, and cyber security. These courses offer individuals the chance to develop in-demand skills within the community.

Starting in September, the courses range from 5-week intensive programs to up to 16 weeks. They are part of the UK Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, created in partnership with employers, providers, and local authorities. Industry experts will deliver the courses face-to-face.

These Bootcamps are designed to help people enhance their skills and knowledge, supporting upskilling in current roles and offering better career prospects. This targeted initiative aims to bridge the local skills gap and provide qualifications that employers actively seek.

Anthony Bravo, OBE and Principal of BCoT, said: “We are passionate about providing an educational experience that equips all students, no matter what their age or background, with the knowledge, skills and experience to positively contribute to the growth of the region. These Skills Bootcamps will help individuals boost their careers and demonstrate our ambition to play a leading role in the delivery of sustainable education in the area.”

Skills Bootcamps are free for individual learners. Employers can also enrol their employees with a small contribution required.

These Bootcamps add to the educational options available to students from North Hampshire and beyond, which also include BTECs, T-Levels, and apprenticeships. The college also hosts the University Centre, the Green Energy Technology Centre, and will soon open a new production studio for the Creative Industries Department.
