Solent Mind, Hampshire’s largest mental health charity, has raised £4,140 at its annual quiz night this month.

Solent Mind logoThe event brought together many of the charity’s supporters for an evening of entertainment, with all funds raised set to go towards supporting mental health in the region.

Held at The Concorde Club in Eastleigh and sponsored by Morgan Sindall, the evening saw 26 teams battling it out through five rounds of questions to be named Solent Mind’s quiz champion 2024.

And after a final tiebreaker, host Cherry Liquor announced Portsmouth-based finance company Liquid Friday as the winners.

Joe Taffurelli, chief operating officer at Liquid Friday, said: “We had no idea how well we’d done, so to hear we’d scored top points along with another team was brilliant.

“I’m just glad we clinched that tiebreaker question!

“It’s been a fantastic evening for an amazing cause, and our trophy will be taking pride of place in our office in Portsmouth.”

Among the other teams taking part were Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton and air traffic control provider NATS.

Both companies are big supporters of Solent Mind, offering up their staff to take on volunteering tasks across the organisation.

Rebecca Edwards, Marketing Executive at Barratt David Wilson, said: “We’ve been supporting Solent Mind for several years, so we were really keen to come along.

“We’re so glad we did. It’s been so much fun!”

Bethany Rippingale, HR talent manager at NATS, said: “This is the first time we’ve been to one of Solent Mind’s quiz evenings.

“We’ve really enjoyed ourselves, and it’s great to know we’re all raising money for such an amazing cause.”

Sally Arscott, CEO of Solent Mind, said: “Thank you to everyone who’s joined us today, to our sponsors Morgan Sindall, and to Cherry for putting on a great show.

“It’s been a fantastic evening, and we’re hugely grateful.

“The money raised will mean our services can continue to support people across the region and promote positive mental wellbeing.”

Susan Dee, social value manager at Morgan Sindall, added: “We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to sponsor this special fundraising event.

“Partnering with Solent Mind aligns with our values of working with our communities, and the work Solent Mind is doing to support mental health in the local area is so important, particularly within our own industry.”

Solent Mind provides a wide range of mental health services across Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth, helping people live well and thrive.
