Budding partnership blossoms for Lakeside North Harbour as occupiers team up to plant new trees

Businesses at Portsmouth’s Lakeside North Harbour campus have come together to plant 15 new trees and bring a splash of colour to the site.

The teams involved picked out some Pyrus Chanticleer ornamental pear trees from a sustainable supplier in Romsey, which produce blush and white flowers between spring and summer.

They should also generate buzz among the resident bees, as the 130-acre campus is home to 10 hives.

This marks a second collaboration for Lakeside with The Queen’s Green Canopy, formerly headed by the late Queen Elizabeth.

Last April businesses at the campus planted 10 trees with the QGC to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee and together donated more than £500 to The Woodland Trust.

Asset Manager Simon Bateman said: “We at Lakeside were deeply saddened by the news of the Queen’s passing in September of last year, yet it is wonderful to see that King Charles is continuing the work of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

“Lakeside North Harbour is in a perfect position to support environmental work, including that of the QGC and The Woodland Trust, and we will continue exploring how we can improve and nurture the biodiversity across our site over the coming years.”

Teams from BTS, Eco Drift, Checkatrade, Fair Ways, Go Car Credit, Handelsbanken, Kinto, Lambert Smith Hampton and Vail Williams all took part in the planting.
